I tried all your suggestions where possible and ended up using terminal. I am able to locate the big files with the command given, but I cannot get into the folders.

The base line in terminal is -bash Any advise? Thank you!! For example, if you currently see a list of your folders use the cd. Once the folder is listed as the current directory in terminal use the command ls or ls -l to see the files within that folder. Hi Evelien, -bash To see files within your folders, you need to change the directory to that specific folder. The next time you start up or restart your computer, your Mac starts up using the operating system on the selected volume. Another trick which I cannot verify is to hold Ctrl and then Click on the disk after invoking startup manager at boot time.

Just out of curiosity, why can you not verify holding down the control key after invoking the Start Up manager? DavidAnderson I haven't tried that method ever and can't try it now as I am using Ubuntu. Read about it at some reliable sources so posted it with a disclaimer.
